How fit do you need to be for our Ibiza Escape?

How fit do you need to be for our Ibiza Escape?

If Ibiza has caught your eye but you’re wondering “am I actually fit enough for this?”, here’s what you need to know.

How fit do you need to be for our Ibiza Escape?

Our Ibiza Escape is an active six nights, with daily training, two-workout days and a coastal hike through the island’s rugged north.

So if Ibiza has caught your eye but you’re wondering “am I actually fit enough for this?”, here’s what you need to know.

You don’t need to be the fittest person in the group, but we always recommend a good base level of fitness, some consistency with your training and a willingness to get stuck in.

What are the workouts like?

Expect Salt’s usual mix of strength, conditioning and cardio, programmed to challenge you and led by our expert coaches.

Your first full day starts with a high-energy team workout before breakfast. After a morning by the pool, guided recovery and lunch, you’ll have some time to recharge before we go again with sweat session number two.

The workouts are challenging. We’re proud of that. But good coaching means knowing when to push you and when to scale something to your level. You don’t need to lift the heaviest, run the fastest or finish first.

Come with a good fitness base so you can enjoy the sessions and the adventures between them.

How hard is the coastal hike?

We'll head out along Ibiza's rugged coastline, hiking through pine forest and rocky trails to hidden bays you can only reach on foot, stopping for a swim along the way.

Hiking experience isn’t necessary, but being comfortable spending a few hours on your feet and tackling uneven terrain will make the morning much more enjoyable.

Then it’s back to the villa for lunch and downtime before the afternoon workout.

What about Boat Day?

After the workout and breakfast, we’ll head out on private motor yachts to cruise Ibiza's south coast and across to Formentera.

There’ll be swimming, snorkelling, hidden coves, lunch, drinks and tunes onboard.

So while you’ll train every day, not everything on this Escape is designed to test your fitness.

Sometimes we just want you to jump off a boat into ridiculously blue water.

What should I do before I go?

You don't need to start training twice a day!

If you're already exercising consistently, keep doing what you're doing. A combination of strength and cardio will put you in a good place for Ibiza.

If your routine has been a little hit and miss lately, focus on building consistency before you arrive rather than trying to cram six months of training into the final few weeks.

A good base might look like:

  • 2 strength or conditioning sessions a week
  • 1 to 2 runs or other cardio sessions
  • Regular walking, ideally with some hills
  • Mobility or yoga alongside your training

For Ibiza specifically, a few longer walks will help get your legs ready for the coastal hike. No dramatic training plan required.

What if everyone else is fitter than me?

You don’t need to match anyone else’s pace or weights. Our coaches can adapt movements so you’re challenged at your level and still part of the session.

Every Salt group has a mix of fitness levels and different things they're good at.

You might be more confident with cardio than weights, or the other way round.

Nobody is good at everything!

Our coaches will challenge you at your level and scale movements where needed, while keeping everyone training together.

Is there enough recovery?

Definitely.

Recovery and mobility run throughout the week, but Thursday is when we really dial things down.

After a big morning workout and breakfast, the rest of the day is built around recovery: guided stretching, ice baths, optional massages and plenty of downtime in the Spanish sunshine.

The villa helps, too. There’s a sauna and cold plunge, a big pool, hot tub and yoga dome, so you have everything you need to get your body ready to go again.

So, am I fit enough for Ibiza?

If you already exercise regularly and feel comfortable taking on challenging workouts and several active days in a row, you're starting from a good place.

If training hasn't featured much in your life recently, we'd recommend giving yourself some time to build that base before you come.

You want to finish a morning workout and still be up for Boat Day. Hike through the pine forests and enjoy the hidden beach at the end. And enjoy the sessions and adventures across the week.

Between sessions? Pool. Hot tub. Cold plunge. Mediterranean feast.

There are worse places to recover.
