What skiing level do I need for the Austria Ski retreat?

You should be comfortable skiing on-piste and confident linking turns on blue and red runs. The trip is built for people who already know and love skiing. We ski in smaller groups and spend a full day on the 22km White Ring circuit through Lech, Zürs, Zug and Oberlech.

Can I come to Oberlech on my own?

Yes. Most Salt Escapes guests travel solo, and this trip is no different. You'll ski in small groups, eat together every evening and join a trip WhatsApp group about a month before departure, so you arrive knowing nobody and leave with a whole new set of ski mates.

Are lift passes and ski hire included?

Yes. A 5-day Arlberg lift pass and ski hire, fitted at the chalet, are both included. If you bring your own equipment we can't offer a discount, because the hire is part of our supplier agreement, but you are welcome to use your own gear.

What is the weather like in Oberlech?

Oberlech sits at around 1,750m, and the highest point in the ski area is 2,811m. Expect average temperatures around -2°C in late January, with cold, bright days and reliable snow. Pack thermal layers, ski gloves, goggles, sun cream and swimwear for the sauna and spa.

Where do I stay in Oberlech?

You stay in an 11-bedroom ski-in ski-out chalet above Lech, so you clip in at the door. It has an open fire, a sun terrace and a private wellness area with a sauna, infrared cabin and cold-water Kneipp pool, and a private chef cooks breakfast and most dinners.

Trip Overview

Our first-ever Ski Escape takes us 1,750m up into the Austrian Alps, to Oberlech, a snow-covered, ski-in ski-out village surrounded by 300km of high-Alpine terrain. For six nights, we've curated the perfect itinerary of ski, adventure, recovery, and luxury: big days exploring the Arlberg, the legendary 22km White Ring circuit, cross-country trails and night sledging, balanced with yoga, sauna, and cold plunges.
