Daily workouts and enough pickleball to discover a competitive streak you didn’t know you had. So, how fit do you actually need to be?
A 20-metre pool, sauna and cold plunge, sunrise run on Dreamtime Beach, four nights in a private homestead surrounded by rainforest. It's the Aussie dream!
But how fit do you actually need to be?
In short: you don’t need to be an athlete. But we do recommend a good base level of fitness, some consistency with your training and a willingness to get stuck in.
Here’s what that looks like in Australia.
Your first full day starts with a big team workout on our private pickleball court. After breakfast, pool time, yoga and lunch, you’ll have a few hours to recover before heading back for workout number two.
The rest of the Escape follows a similar Salt formula: challenging functional fitness, strength and cardio, with plenty of teamwork thrown in.
Our coaches will help you find the right level of challenge. But the sessions are scalable, too. If something needs adapting, we’ll adapt it.
The goal isn't for everyone to lift the same weights or move at the same pace, it's for everyone to get a properly good workout.

This is one worth getting out of bed for.
We’ll head down to Dreamtime Beach early and run 6km along the sand as the sun comes up over the Pacific.
If running isn't usually your thing, don't panic. But we would recommend getting a few easy runs under your belt before you arrive so the distance feels familiar.
And if you are a runner? You probably won't need much convincing.
Either way, there’s beachside coffee at the end and a cold plunge waiting back at the homestead.

You definitely don't need to suddenly double your training!
If you already work out around 2 to 3 times a week, you're starting with the kind of fitness base we'd recommend for a Salt Escape.
Keep doing what you're doing, with a mix of strength and cardio. And for this Escape specifically, adding some running before you travel will help you enjoy that Dreamtime Beach morning much more.
A good base might look like:
If you've been a little hit and miss lately, don't try to cram months of training into the fortnight before you fly. Consistency beats panic.
You don’t need to match anyone else’s pace or weights! Our coaches can adapt movements so you’re challenged at your level and still part of the session.
Someone will be a strong runner. Someone else will love lifting. Someone will turn up claiming they "aren't competitive" and reveal their true colours approximately seven minutes into pickleball.
Every group has a mix of strengths and training backgrounds.
That's why the workouts are scalable. Our coaches can adapt movements while still making sure you're being challenged.
You just need to arrive with a decent base and ready to have a go.

This is where the homestead really comes into its own.
There’s daily yoga, plus a sauna and cold plunge you can make full use of between sessions. After the sunrise run, we’ll head straight back for a cold plunge before brunch. And there are long stretches of downtime built into the itinerary for the pool, games room or simply putting your feet up.
If you already train a few times a week, can comfortably tackle a workout and have enough of a running base to take on 6km, you're starting from a good place.
If training hasn't been particularly consistent lately, we’d recommend giving yourself some time to rebuild that base before you arrive.
You want to finish a big morning workout and still fancy getting involved in pickleball. Run Dreamtime Beach at sunrise and enjoy it rather than endure it. And have time to recharge for the next day’s plans.
